About this speaker
Manny Rojas returned to Newark in the spring of 2020 as Delaware's defensive coordinator. Rojas, who brings more than a decade of coaching experience, previously spent two seasons (2017-18) as UD’s linebackers coach. In his 15 seasons as a college coach and player, he has been a part of seven conference championships and five NCAA playoff appearances.
In 2022, the Delaware defense was one of the best in the country, helping lead the program back into the FCS Playoffs. In five of UD’s six wins, the defense held opponents to 10 points or less. The Blue Hens led the CAA and ranked second in the nation in both scoring defense (18.2 ppg) and passing defense (137.8 ypg), while ranking third in total defense (282.6 ypg) and fourth in both forced fumbles (14). Six members of the defense earned All-CAA honors on the defensive side, including three selections to the first team. Kendrick Whitehead became a three-time All-CAA performer and was also named an All-American for the fourth-straight year before signing a UDFA contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2023 NFL Draft.
